Hey Everyone!
I am new into 3D Scanning, and we bought recently the David SLS1.
To get better scans and fewer problems with the shapefusion I intend to build an Automated Turntable here at work where i work as an intern. I do not have many experience with electronics but i would give it a try.
Here i got a summary of the parts / building instructions. It would be nice if someone would check if i missed anything out.

Here are some of my concerns for now:
For example i have no idea how the motor and the arduino board match into the holder or where to store the breadboard.
I would like using a normal circuit board instead of the more expensive breadboard, if possible, and if someone could hook me up with the needed wiring table.
Also I need to scan here a bit heavier and bigger objects than you showed in your youtube videos. Mainly SLR Cameras like the Nikon D600 and therefore i would like to ask if I need a stronger Servo motor for that matter? For now i intended to use the Futaba S148 Servo because i wanted to be sure the servo hack works and thats the model mentioned in the servo hack instructions. If you know any stronger models with the same oportunities i would be grateful. I think the Objects should weigh about 0,5-1,5kg depending if we have to scan the Cameras with or without the objective.
I already drew a bigger plate with our CAD Program with an updated diameter of 15cm so our objects wont be in danger of falling off during the scan. We intend to print the parts with our 3d printer this week and order the other components as well. It would be great if we could make some progress this week.

Hi kill000r, welcome to the forum!

I've seen you did already research at thingiverse :)

I think for your application the turntable from the project VirtuCube could fit quite nice.

Just download the bottom and the turntable and print it.

Then, get the servo stick into the bottom, attach the Arduino and let David do the job ;)

Hey there! Thanks for your suggestions. Unfortunately the first thing we did this morning was printing the new 15cm diameter plate without looking into the forum :P I guess we have to stick with the original design from thingiverse/thing:37835. What do you think about the motor? Is the Futaba S148 suitable for our task? Or is there maybe any stronger servo with a very similar controller out there so that i wont have to change much of the code? Thanks :)

*Edit: Okay now I think I get it. The VirtuCube Version uses a digital servo motor, the other version (thing:37835) needed the potentiometer for controlling reasons. Does the new motor (RS-10) still need a Servo Hack?
I am looking at the wiring Table right now. Is the Push button necessary or does the software everything automatic and i wouldn´t need a platine at all? I think i saw at your youtube video (/watch?v=F2pRHFcEtFY) that you had the button and the motor attached directly to the arduino board.
Correct me if i´m wrong :P.
Do I need the 10k Ohm Resistor also? I would take the SMD version then.
I have updated my parts list now and i would realy apprechiate it if you could maybe look over it and tell me if i got it right.

Ok, I guess the servo will do the job. I recommend that you seperate the part that holds the servo from the case of the Arduino to increase stability of the turntable.

Please post some pics of your project. It will help others users, who are intending to build a similar turntable :)

We´ve ordered the parts yesterday :P I´ll keep you up 2 date how the project goes on :P
About the stability, thx :) but i think were gonna mount the whole scanner / turntable combo to a big alu plate ;)
