Primesense published a firmware update for their Carmine 1.08 and compatible devices like the Asus Xtion Pro.

I did the update, nothing special happened ;)

Update on your own risk. Make sure to have the old firmware as well, in case the update fails and your scanner must be reset to the old version.

Will the upgrade work with the 1.09? They claim it helps with USB 3 connectivity, which I have had a problem with using my Carmine.

I just bought a laptop so I could use the scanner remotely, and now I can't seem to get the sensor to connect. I've loaded both Skanect 1.3 and 1.5 and neither acknowledge the sensor. It's a primesense Carmine 1.082
Does anybody know how to manually find and load the needed drivers if that's what I need to do?
Also, does the new firmware play any role in this?
My PC is a dell precision m2400 with win7 ultimate 32 bit OS centrino2
Thanks!

Did you install the OpenNI drivers?

This is the link to the 64bit version:

http://www.openni.org/openni-sdk/?downl ... -2.1.0.zip

please make sure that Skanect and OpenNi are both either 32bit, or 64bit.

I finally figured it out. I had done what you recommended and for some reason it didn't take the 1st time. I may have had the sensor plugged into the wrong usb port (the port said usb with a little lightning bolt next to it). I really don't know if that was the problem or not. Anyway, I disabled the driver from the 1st attempt and reloaded the driver again with the camera in a normal usb port and it worked.
Thanks for your help. Soon I hope to post some projects. I have the Carmine 1.08, so I'm going to try some larger objects. Has anybody else been using the 1.08? Just curious.
