There are a lot DIY scanners out there, but no one tried to build a
Time-of-flight scanner at home before

This project seems to be perfect for the first diy3dscan design challenge!
The goal is to build a 3D scanner that automatically generates a pointcloud of a room using the time-of-flight method:
o as accurate as possible,
o as fast as possible,
o as simple as possible,
o and, of course, as cheap as possible
The scanner is an Open Hardware project and should be buildable with 3d printers and tools available at an average hardware store. It will be published under an
Creative Commons License.
The challenge has three divisions:
1) Hardware
2) Electronics
3) Software
The winner of each division gets honored by the diy3dscan forum and his username is mentioned in the CC license and in the "Hall of Fame" !
Happy developing
