i went to their web page
http://www.real3d.pk/virtual3dscanner.html

i'm not sure i understand what it is. And when they write:
Real-time Virtual 3D Scanner is a high resolution Structured Light technology based virtual scanner that scans virtual objects in the virtual environment.

To scan virtual objects ? in the virtual environment ?
what I need is to scan real objects, and that's what they show on their video,

but how does it work ? we need to buy a projector ? they provide the software ? it's for free ?
sorry, maybe i did not have the patience to browse their web site...

I tried the old version. The setup is like David. The cool feature is that it really shows a realtime 3d image of the object.

hello @Hugues, 3DRACS has 2 modules for 3D Scanning, Virtual 3D Scanner is for researchers, developers, students, simply its for learners, it is not for you.

To understand what is Virtual 3D Scanner, you should watch this video... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1EDNlS41MjM .. you will see a low resolution CAD module is imported into the Virtual Scanner and Virtual Scanner scans that model in very high resolution. (3D CAD model to 3D CAD model)

Structured Light 3D Scanning module is to perform real-world 3D scanning, you need a projector and a camera for this. (3D real-world model to 3D CAD model).

Hope its clear now.

Hi Furqan! Thank you for joining the forum :)

Could you please describe how the Structured Light Scanning Module works? How is it different to other SL solutions?

Do you think it can be used by us DIYers?

DIYers provide real 3D image scanning, which is a good device that analyzes a real-world object or environment to collect data on its shape and possibly its appearance. The collected data can then be used to construct digital three-dimensional models.
