I finally was determined to take a project from scan to print. This is Michelle again using the Carmine 1.09 with Virtuspecs. I recently committed to Artec Studio 9.1 and the results have been much better in my hands than with ReMe or Skanect (although I do like Skanect a lot). On this particular scan the resolution could have been a bit better, but still a giant leap forward with Artec. Used smooth fusion and filled a large hole in the shoulder with Artec as well. Used Netfabb Studio to cut down to size, further repair the surface and make solid. Final repair of surface and touching up with Meshmixer. Stl file sliced with Makerware and then printed on my Replicator 2.

Wow! this is an awesome scan. Could you please describe, how you achieved this result?

I did describe in detail. Hard to read carefully when you are always in a rush to invent new scanning stuff Bernhard

The user manual of "FabliTec" gave a quite useful tip: http://www.fablitec.de/download/user-manual/

It is recommended to start scanning at the back of the model, so you avoid artefacts from overlapping scans at the front of your bust.

... will try this at my next scan.

I was already doing this as I found the overlap effects were horrible when I was using Skanect. Artec Studio doesn't seem to mind as much, but still start from the back out of habit.
