Post subject: | Kinect and Artec Studio ~ how to improve results? |
Hey everyone, I'm a maritime archaeologist and am trying to use Artec Studio and Kinect to record rather complex objects, such as historic boats. However, no matter how slowly I move the sensor, and pay attention to keeping the values within the "optimal zone" (green bar indicating best recording distance), there's always some rather big misalignment issues (within single scans), and they tend to get worse rather than better after performing "fine serial registration" and "global registration" algorithms. Does anyone have any tips on improving the results? I am running Artec 9.2.3.15, have Kinect for Windows SDK 1.8 installed (as well as openNI 2.2 sdk), and am using a Kinect Xbox sensor. I have tried recording at 1FPS, 10FPS, 15FPS and 30FPS but the result is always the same. I have also tried recording up and down (as in https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1isqVjfnMlA) as well as in straight lines along the object, but no big differences. Grateful for any info you may have, Tom |

Hi Tom Your project sounds really interesting ![]() Do you use Artec Studio 9 full version or trial one? Just in case, here are the contacts of Artec technical support: http://www.artec3d.com/about/, email address is support@artec-group.com), please write us a small email with a couple of screenshots of mis-alignments in your projects and we'll be glad to help. Have a nice day! -- Best regards! Olga Skvortsova Head of Technical Support Department http://www.artec3d.com |
