Hey, I am searching for a tool to scan a room in 360°-Perspective with colored texture map and high accuracy. In this KinectFusion video they are able to do so: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zzb_RQWrt6I At the moment I only have the Kinect Fusion SDK (version 1.7) for playing around. How to use this Sample for my purpose (I am a beginner) ? Some say the function "INuiFusionReconstruction::CalculatePointCloud" will give me a point cloud with colored texture of my real environment? I also found this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mqp3bWqxDsc Kintinuous: Spatially extended KinectFusion with colored textures. Moreover there are many other 3-D-scanning tools and Hacks ("Scenect", "Scanect", "ReconstructMe", "RGBDemo", etc.). I am confused. What is the best tool/programme for my purposes to obtain a textured point cloud of my room/scene from my Kinect?? |

Hi Thomas! I would recommend you to try Scenect from Faro. It is a tool that let's you create a detailed point cloud of a room. It has features like doing measurements, stitching multiple scans aso. Check out this example Another option is Skanect from Manctl. It has an option to scan rooms as well. This tool creates a 3D mesh from your scan, not just the point cloud. |

With Scenect I have following problems: I have installed all the required Drivers on my Win7 64bit computer: (OpenNI 1.5.4.0 (32bit+64bit), PrimeSense - NITE 1.5.2.21 for Windows (32bit+64bit), PrimeSense Sensor 5.1.2.1 (32bit+64bit), PrimeSense Sensor KinectMod 5.1.2.1 for Windows 64-bit) Still I get the message "No motion sensing device found...Error Code: 0", using a 'Kinect for Windows' with a USB 2.0 Port. However, when I use a 'Kinect XBox360', it works! Furthermore, Microsoft Kinect SDK was already installed on my computer before. But before I use Scenect, I choose the PrimeSense Sensor Driver for my Kinect Camera in the device manager, so I disable the Microsoft driver. How to solve this problem? |

Hi Thomas! Faro released Scenect 5.2 a few days ago. It should be compatible to Kinect for Windows. |

Although mine is the opposite, it does not work with Kinect for 360... It says "No motion sensing device found...Error Code: 0" mm... I am still looking to understand the optimal internal balance between operating system, memory, gpu model... no Radeon seems to be compulsory. |
