Hi everyone; I was wondering, is it possible to swap out the existing cameras/lenses in the Kinect and/or Carmine with higher quality ones, to get a better scan resolution? I saw a teardown of the Kinect and the cameras are separate units connected by ribbon cables, so, theoretically it shouldw ork, right?

Hi! That's an interesting idea. Would OpenNi be compatible to the new hardware?

I don't know, but if you know a way to install new cameras then I know some people who might be able to change the source of OpenNI (it is open source, right?).

Has anyone made any progress on this idea? I think it's brilliant!
