Hi All,
Artec Studio 9.1 can use multiple scanners.
Does it support the PrimeSense 1.09?
And if so, can the ASUS Xtion pro live and the if the PrimeSense 1.09 be used simultaneously?

Thanks,
Victor

I tested the "bundle" feature for the first time. It works with an Asus Xtion Pro and a Carmine 1.09

1) Plug in the 3d scanners (Asus, Carmine). Make sure that you use USB interfaces that are not right next to each other. I could be that they are managed by the same USB controller, which could cause a problem.

2) Make a scan with the first controller. Do not move the scanner anymore

3) Make a scan with the second controller. Do not move the scanner anymore

4) Select both scans > File > create bundle

5) Align the scans and save the bundle

6) Multi > use bundle > scan

In this picture, the scanners were moved after the alignment process, to show that both are capturing an image.

I think this feature has a great potential!

Just uploaded a system of clamps that allow you to build a portable "multiscanner".

Thanks Bernhard. As always your research and innovative designs are much appreciated.
Just downloaded Artec studio 9.1. Iit looks like it has quite a steep learning curve so I'm going to have to hunker down and spend some time studying the 100 page manual. It looks like a great piece of software.

hallo ,
how can you plug in the 3d scanner? I put them in different USB, but just one is seen by my pc.
other question (hoping in the right topic...)but...carmine and xtion have different operation range, in Artec I can't see this difference.
I have to use different drivers?

thank you

Make sure you are plugged into USB 2.0 ports with both sensors. Scanners and software seem to have trouble with USB 3.0. As far as range, Artec gives you bars on the range indicator where it is getting reads. It does not change the range indicator based on the sensor used. As an aside, if you use the glasses mod, you will need to manually set the range to allow a near point of as close as 250.

for sure I am a really non-expert so, treat my question with comprehension... Why would a two scanner rig be better than a one one?

I had no time to do a lot of testing, but I hope that I can get faster and more reliable scans, because I do not have to move the scanner so much. A multiple scanner system could be useful, if you use a turntable and want to automate the scanning process ... I guess ;)
