As an update, i was able to successfully get Carmine 1.09 working with Skanect on a Windows 7 machine. I had to use the OpenNI SDK v2.1. OpenNI 2.2 beta was the source of my problems.

I never used the Carmine with David. I don't think anyone would since they would need to acquire the scan with skanect and it would already be fused and watertight. I don't think the David system could interface with the Carmine since it projects a light pattern that's altogether different from the SL type.

Is the David system you built capable of producing full body scans of people?

I haven't done it yet, as I am cutting my teeth on smaller projects.
It's possible, but the time involved would be substantial. As you learn, you realize the value of better hardware vs. amount of available personal time. I will soon have an upper body scan done, and I may post it on the David forum. I don't think Bernhard wants to necessarily diverge from the focus of this forum being focused on the Primesense scanners.
I'm guessing that in the next few years, Primesense will develop their technology to the point that perfect scans are available with tiny investments.
