3D scanning and printing machines are totally outstanding in terms of reproducing technical concept to improve product or design. Based on what I've researched, both offer the same portability, consistency and readiness of products. I personally see this as an effective and competitive device with an edge.

I just got a Sense scanner to evaluate and decide if I'm going to sign up to resell them. It does deal with some of the problems I found with the Primesense sensor it's based on - the software works better than most of the stand-alone software I tried, it's easier to hang onto (it has a tripod mount as well as a handle) and it seems to work pretty well on full body scans, but I've been having more issues with small objects. Ben Heck came up with a solution: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TLFonu92Wn4 but it seems like a lot to have to set up. I wonder if anybody else has tried these scanners and come up with an easier procedure.

Does someone know if there is a way to use the Sense with different softwares? For example OpenNi softwares?
After all, it is Primesense based!

Have you seen my test-setup in this thread? http://www.virtumake.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=253

Most people have Legos in their home or know someone who has. I'd like to know how the Sense compares.

My Sense sensor is detected by Windows as a Carmine 1.09 (Installed OpenNI2).

It's working with Skanect, ReconstructMe, RecFusion but you need to use it horizontaly (like a Carmine 1.09).

A real PrimeSense Carmine 1.09 is not recognized as a Sense sensor by the 3DSystem's Sense software.

I think the key of sich a primesense based system is the software to get a watertight 3D model.
