What kind of system would I need for multi Carmine?
I have seen some are using 16x

Please post a link to such a system, this could be interesting to a lot of people.

I run my Carmine 1.09 in a Lenovo U410 laptop. It is powerful enough to scan a whole person and the setup is mobile, so I can walk around with the scanner. Of course you could get yourself a USB extention cable and scan with a more powerful desktop computer.

I am just starting experiments with multiple scanner setups. I learned that each scanner must be connected to its own USB controller. At my notebook, two USB interfaces are controlled by one USB controller. The laptop had 4 USB interfaces, so I can just run two scanners parallel.

Could you list the display card of your laptop?NVIDIA GeForce 610M 1GB?Is it able to handle texture mapping in Artec ?
The Manual of Artec says "For texture mapping and GPU processing,NVidia GeForce 460 video adapter or better".
I want to buy a new cost -effective laptop. Hope you can give me some advice.
Thank you! :)

If used this file to choose a notebook:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc ... 1TWc#gid=0

Thank you for your reply!
Another question, can we get high detail like following example if using VirtuSpecs for Carmine 1.09 with Artec?

In Virtumake's hands yes. In mine....not quite. Experience and scanner's skills play a big part in results.

These scans are very high detailed! Since the hardware is the basically the same, I assume Artec will be able to achieve similar results. I am going to scan my feet this weekend and post a picture :)

Hi, Bernhard.
I could't wait to see your results. I made a "VirtuSpecs-II" in my way.
Unfortunately, I could't get those high detail by using "VirtuSpecs-II" for Carmine 1.09 with ReconstructMe.
The result with VirtuSpecs-II goes near to the quality of that result without VirtuSpecs-II.
I used a pair of +2.5 presbyopic glasses. The distance between carmine and my foot was about 40cm.
I want to know what went wrong, my "VirtuSpecs-II" or my clumsy hands?

Anyone tried it ? What about your results?

Hi Rick!

Cool mod of the mod :)

Unfortunately, I can not make ReMe run on my laptop. With the mod, you should be able to get much nearer to you foot than 40cm. It should be less than 25cm.

This reduction of the minimum distance results in a higher detailed scan.

I had some other projects running during the weenkend, but will send a pic of my foot soon.

Hi, Bernhard! Thanks for your advise! Hope to see your results!
However in ReMe, if I reduce the distance to less 38cm,the software won't get 3d datas of the object.
For example, it gets my eyes while losing my nose. How come?

First, you have to make sure your whole head is within the bounding box before you start. The nose might have been outside the bounds. Second, if you are in biunds then you need to pull away to get your nose. For the best resolution you want to be as close as possible, but if too close you get under the near point of the scanning range. With virtuspecs and Carmine it can be a fine line. The more you scan with it, the better your sense of effective range.
